Description

These Air Fryer Churro Cookies are a delightful twist on the classic churro, offering a crispy exterior coated in cinnamon sugar and a rich dark chocolate dip. Made with simple ingredients and cooked quickly in the air fryer, these cookies deliver the perfect balance of crunch and sweetness, ideal for a fun and easy snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup butter, cut into cubes
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg

Coating and Topping

  • ½ cup cinnamon sugar (for coating)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, melted (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Boil water and melt butter: In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the cubed butter and stir until it dissolves completely.
  2. Add sugar and flour: Stir in the sugar until dissolved, then add the flour. Mix well with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
  3. Incorporate the egg: Remove the saucepan from heat and add the egg, mixing thoroughly to combine.
  4. Cool and pipe dough: Allow the dough to cool slightly before transferring it into a piping bag.
  5. Shape cookies: Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit the air fryer basket. Pipe the dough onto the parchment paper forming tight spirals to create cookie shapes.
  6. Preheat air fryer: Set the air fryer to 180ºC (356ºF) and allow it to preheat.
  7. Air fry cookies: Place the parchment paper with the piped cookies into the air fryer basket and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the cookies turn golden brown and crisp.
  8. Coat cookies: While the cookies are still hot, roll them in the cinnamon sugar to coat evenly.
  9. Dip in chocolate: Dunk half of each cookie in the melted dark chocolate and place them on a cooling rack to set.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough is sufficiently cooled before piping to prevent burning your hands and to achieve better shapes.
  • Piping tight spirals helps the cookies hold their form during air frying.
  • If your air fryer basket is smaller, you may need to cook the cookies in batches.
  • The cookies are best enjoyed the same day for optimal crispiness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
