Description

Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a healthier, crispy snack made with dill pickle slices coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture, cooked in an air fryer for a golden, crunchy texture. Perfect for appetizers or a fun party snack.

Ingredients

1 jar of dill pickle slices (about 12 oz)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Cooking spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the pickle slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Set up a breading station by placing the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another bowl, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
  4. Dredge each pickle slice in flour, dip it into the egg wash, and coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.
  5. Arrange the breaded pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching to allow for even crisping.
  6. Lightly spray the pickles with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping the pickles halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or spicy mayo.

Notes

  1. This recipe yields about 4 servings.
  2. To make these pickles spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the breadcrumb mixture.
  3. For a cheesy version, mix some grated Parmesan cheese into the breadcrumbs.
  4. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
  5. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  6. To reheat, air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Uncooked breaded pickles can be frozen on a baking sheet for 1 hour, then transferred to a ziplock bag. When ready, air fry from frozen for 10-12 minutes.
