Description
Air Fryer Fried Pickles are a healthier, crispy snack made with dill pickle slices coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture, cooked in an air fryer for a golden, crunchy texture. Perfect for appetizers or a fun party snack.
Ingredients
1 jar of dill pickle slices (about 12 oz)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Cooking spray (for air fryer)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Pat the pickle slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Set up a breading station by placing the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another bowl, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- Dredge each pickle slice in flour, dip it into the egg wash, and coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.
- Arrange the breaded pickles in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they aren’t touching to allow for even crisping.
- Lightly spray the pickles with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping the pickles halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or spicy mayo.
Notes
- This recipe yields about 4 servings.
- To make these pickles spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the breadcrumb mixture.
- For a cheesy version, mix some grated Parmesan cheese into the breadcrumbs.
- For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Uncooked breaded pickles can be frozen on a baking sheet for 1 hour, then transferred to a ziplock bag. When ready, air fry from frozen for 10-12 minutes.
