Description
Apple Pie Bombs are a fun and delicious twist on a classic dessert. These bite-sized pockets of warm, cinnamon-spiced apple filling are enveloped in golden, flaky pastry. Perfect for a quick treat, these apple pie bombs are easy to make and sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp butter
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the apples are softened and the mixture is thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface and separate into 8 triangles.
- Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the apple filling onto the widest part of each dough triangle.
- Roll up the dough around the apple mixture, pinching the edges to seal the filling inside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of each apple pie bomb.
- Place the prepared bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- After baking, drizzle the melted butter over the warm apple pie bombs and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Store any leftover apple pie bombs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. If you want to store them for longer, place them in the refrigerator, where they’ll stay fresh for about 4 days.
- If freezing, place unbaked apple pie bombs on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer to a freezer bag and store for up to 2 months. Bake straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
- Feel free to substitute pears for apples for a different twist on the filling.
- These apple pie bombs are delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
