Description

Apple Pie Bombs are a fun and delicious twist on a classic dessert. These bite-sized pockets of warm, cinnamon-spiced apple filling are enveloped in golden, flaky pastry. Perfect for a quick treat, these apple pie bombs are easy to make and sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp butter

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup melted butter

1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the apples are softened and the mixture is thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface and separate into 8 triangles.
  4. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of the apple filling onto the widest part of each dough triangle.
  5. Roll up the dough around the apple mixture, pinching the edges to seal the filling inside.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of each apple pie bomb.
  7. Place the prepared bombs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. After baking, drizzle the melted butter over the warm apple pie bombs and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  1. Store any leftover apple pie bombs in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. If you want to store them for longer, place them in the refrigerator, where they’ll stay fresh for about 4 days.
  2. If freezing, place unbaked apple pie bombs on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer to a freezer bag and store for up to 2 months. Bake straight from the freezer, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
  3. Feel free to substitute pears for apples for a different twist on the filling.
  4. These apple pie bombs are delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
