Description

These Birthday M&M Cookie Dough Truffles are a delightful no-bake treat combining safe-to-eat cookie dough studded with colorful mini M&Ms, coated in creamy white chocolate and topped with festive sprinkles. Perfect for birthday parties or any celebration, these truffles are easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk of choice

Add-ins & Coating

  • 1 cup mini M&Ms
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or neutral oil
  • Sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat-treat flour: Place the flour in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 90 seconds, stopping every 30 seconds to whisk the flour thoroughly to kill any bacteria. Allow the flour to cool completely before using.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and creamy. Add vanilla extract and milk, then mix well to combine all wet ingredients.
  3. Combine dry and wet ingredients: Add the salt and cooled, heat-treated flour to the wet mixture. Stir until a cookie dough forms. Gently fold in the mini M&Ms ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  4. Prepare dough balls: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a tablespoon, scoop portions of dough and place them on the parchment. Chill the dough balls for 10 minutes in the refrigerator, then roll each into smooth balls. Chill again while preparing the coating.
  5. Melt white chocolate coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the coconut or neutral oil in 30-second increments, stirring between each until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  6. Dip dough balls: Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each chilled cookie dough ball into the melted white chocolate to coat completely. Place the coated truffles back on the parchment paper.
  7. Decorate and chill: Sprinkle the tops of the dipped truffles with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Chill in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes until the coating is set and firm.

Notes

  • Heat-treating the flour is essential to make the dough safe to eat raw by eliminating potential bacteria.
  • Use softened butter for easier mixing and better texture.
  • You can substitute dairy milk with any plant-based milk according to preference or dietary needs.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • If white chocolate is too thick for dipping, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of oil to thin it out.
  • For a festive twist, try using colored white chocolate or different types of sprinkles.
