Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter, softened
 - 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
 - 2 eggs
 - 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients
- 4 1/4 cups all purpose flour, divided
 - 2 tsp baking soda
 - 1 tsp baking powder
 - 1 tsp salt
 - 1/3 cup cocoa powder

Chocolate Chips
- 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
 - Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until the mixture is creamy and smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed for even mixing.
 - Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, until everything is fully incorporated and the batter is smooth.
 - Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and beat until a dough forms.
 - Divide Dough and Add Chocolate Chips to Cookie Dough: Split the dough into two equal parts. Return one half to the mixing bowl, beat in the remaining 1/4 cup of flour, then stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips to make the cookie dough portion.
 - Prepare Brownie Dough: To the other half of the dough, add the cocoa powder and beat until fully combined. Then beat in the remaining 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
 - Shape Brookies: Using a cookie scoop, gather equal portions of cookie dough and brownie dough and place them side by side on the prepared baking sheet. Press the two dough mounds together gently, shape into a circle, and flatten slightly. Repeat this for the rest of the dough balls.
 - Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 13 minutes, or until the edges are golden while the centers remain soft.
 - Cool: Remove the Brookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
- Do not overmix the dough to avoid tough Brookies; mix just until combined.
 - Chilling the dough for 30 minutes can help maintain shape and improve chewiness.
 - Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate cleanup.
 - Use a cookie scoop to ensure even dough portions for consistent baking.
 - Watch the baking time closely to keep the Brookies soft and chewy.
 - Feel free to substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with milk or white chocolate chips for variation.
 - Allow Brookies to cool slightly before removing from the baking sheet to maintain their structure.
