Description

These Burfi Dessert Balls are a delightful Indian-inspired treat combining traditional burfi with a smooth chocolate coating and delectable rose petals and pistachios. Perfect as an elegant snack or a festive dessert, these bite-sized balls offer a rich, creamy sweetness inside a crisp chocolate shell.

Ingredients

Burfi Base

  • 1 batch Homemade Burfi (store bought is fine too)

Chocolate Coating

  • 2 Cups Melting Wafers or Candy Melts
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Whole Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)

Garnish

  • 3 Tablespoons Mix of rose petals and slivered pistachios
  • Silver Leaf (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burfi Mixture: Crumble the store-bought or homemade burfi by pulsing it a few times in a blender or breaking it down by hand until it forms a smooth, dough-like consistency.
  2. Form the Balls: Attempt to shape the burfi mixture into small balls around 1-1.25 inches in diameter. If the mixture cracks or is crumbly, gradually add milk—about one tablespoon at a time—to achieve a soft and moldable dough.
  3. Chill the Balls: Place the formed balls in the refrigerator to firm up while you prepare the chocolate.
  4. Melt the Chocolate: Melt the melting wafers or candy melts using a microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin it out. Let the melted chocolate cool slightly to prevent melting the burfi when dipping.
  5. Dip the Balls: Remove the chilled balls from the refrigerator and dip each into the melted chocolate using a fork. Tap off excess chocolate carefully and place the coated balls on parchment paper to set completely.
  6. Decorate (Optional): For a decorative touch, drizzle some melted chocolate over the set balls using a piping bag or a ziplock with a small hole cut at the corner. Quickly sprinkle mixed rose petals and slivered pistachios on top before the chocolate hardens. Optionally, add silver leaf for an elegant finish.

Notes

  • Add milk gradually to avoid overly wet dough; just enough to make it moldable.
  • Use a microwave-safe bowl for melting chocolate and avoid overheating to prevent burning.
  • Coconut oil helps to smooth and thin the chocolate for easier coating.
  • Ensure balls are chilled before dipping to prevent melting and achieve a clean chocolate coating.
  • Silver leaf decoration is optional but adds a luxurious touch.
