Description

Cheesecake Stuffed Baked Apples are the perfect blend of a warm, sweet dessert and the creamy goodness of cheesecake. The tartness of the apple pairs wonderfully with the rich and creamy cheesecake filling, creating a comforting treat that’s both decadent and light.

Ingredients

6 medium-sized apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup crushed graham crackers

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Optional: Whipped cream or caramel sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the top off each apple and carefully hollow out the center using a spoon or melon baller, leaving about a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, sour cream, and powdered sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Stir in the crushed graham crackers, cinnamon, and nutmeg until everything is fully incorporated.
  5. Stuff each apple with the cheesecake mixture, packing it tightly to fill each hollowed-out center.
  6. Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish, and drizzle the melted butter over them.
  7. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top of each apple.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle with whipped cream or caramel sauce for extra indulgence.

Notes

  1. Leftover stuffed apples can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  2. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or place in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes to warm through.
  3. You can experiment with flavored extracts like almond or maple for the cheesecake filling.
  4. Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for added crunch.
  5. For a chocolate version, mix in some cocoa powder into the cheesecake filling.
  6. Stuffed apples can be frozen before baking. Bake from frozen, adding 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
