Description
Cheesy Mushrooms are a savory, satisfying appetizer or side dish made with sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese, garlic, and herbs. Quick to prepare and packed with umami flavor, they’re perfect for parties or a cozy meal at home.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh mushrooms (button, cremini, or portobello), cleaned and stems removed
 - 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
 - Salt and black pepper, to taste
 - 1 tsp fresh thyme or 1 tbsp chopped parsley
 - 1 cup shredded mozzarella, cheddar, or cheese blend
 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
 - Optional: 2 tbsp cream cheese or sour cream for added richness

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or sheet pan.
 - Clean mushrooms and remove stems if desired. Slice larger mushrooms or leave small ones whole.
 - In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
 - Add mushrooms and cook for 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and liquid has mostly evaporated. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
 - If using cream cheese or sour cream, stir it into the mushrooms now.
 - Transfer mushrooms to a baking dish and top with shredded cheese and Parmesan if using.
 - Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden on top.
 - Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.

Notes
- Use a mix of cheeses for deeper flavor—mozzarella for meltiness, cheddar for sharpness.
 - Sautéing mushrooms helps prevent sogginess by removing excess moisture.
 - Add breadcrumbs before baking for a crispy topping.
 - This dish is naturally low-carb and gluten-free.
 - For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese and oil.
