Description

These Banana Truffles are a decadent and creamy treat combining rich dark chocolate and ripe banana for a unique flavor twist. These no-bake truffles are coated with smooth melted chocolate and optionally topped with crunchy walnuts, making them an elegant and delicious dessert or snack. Perfect for chocolate lovers seeking a fruity, indulgent twist with a homemade touch.

Ingredients

Truffle Base

  • 3/4 cup chopped dark chocolate (for melting)
  • 3/4 cup roughly chopped banana
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts (optional)

Coating

  • 3/4 cup chopped dark chocolate (for melting)
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Melt the first batch of chocolate: Add 3/4 cup of chopped dark chocolate to a pot set to low heat on the stove, reserving the remaining chocolate for later use. Stir constantly until completely melted, then immediately remove from heat to avoid burning.
  2. Blend with banana: Transfer the melted chocolate and the chopped banana to a food processor. Blend until smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even mixing.
  3. Chill the mixture: Pour the banana chocolate mixture into a bowl and refrigerate for about 40 minutes, or until firm enough to shape into balls.
  4. Form truffle balls: Scoop 1 tablespoon portions of the chilled mixture and roll them into balls by hand. Using kitchen gloves is recommended for easier handling. Place each ball on a plate lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Repeat until all mixture forms about 12 balls.
  5. Melt the remaining chocolate: Place the remaining 3/4 cup chopped dark chocolate into a pot on low heat. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth, then remove from heat promptly.
  6. Coat the truffles: Transfer the melted chocolate into a small bowl. Dip each banana chocolate ball into the melted chocolate, using a fork to lift them out and let excess chocolate drip off. Place each coated truffle back onto the lined plate.
  7. Add walnut topping (optional): While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle a small amount of finely chopped walnuts on top of each truffle for added texture and flavor.
  8. Final chilling: Refrigerate the plate of coated truffles for at least 1 hour to allow the coating to set before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
  • Walnuts are optional and can be substituted with other nuts or left out completely.
  • Wear kitchen gloves during shaping to prevent sticking and keep hands clean.
  • Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days.
  • For a smoother coating, temper the chocolate or use a double boiler instead of direct low heat melting.
