Description

Delicious and healthy Chocolate Banana Waffles made with oat flour, ripe banana, cacao powder, and coconut oil. These waffles are naturally sweetened, gluten-free, and perfect for a nutritious breakfast or brunch option.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (oat milk recommended)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil (melted and cooled)
  • 2 eggs

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cup oat flour
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 2 teaspoons Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Measure out all ingredients accurately using measuring cups and prepare your cooking area with necessary tools.
  2. Blend Wet Ingredients: Place the milk, ripe banana, and melted coconut oil into a blender. Blend on high speed for a few seconds until completely combined. Add the eggs and pulse briefly; avoid overmixing.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients and Blend: Add the oat flour, baking powder, salt, cacao powder, and cinnamon to the wet mixture. Blend until you achieve a smooth batter without lumps.
  4. Preheat Waffle Maker: Heat your waffle maker until it indicates it is fully hot, usually confirmed by a green light. Lightly grease the surfaces with coconut oil spray or a brush if necessary.
  5. Cook Waffles: Pour 1/3 cup of batter onto the hot waffle maker, close the lid, and cook for 8-10 minutes depending on your machine’s strength. Do not open the lid early to ensure waffles cook through properly.
  6. Cool Waffles: Remove the waffles carefully and place them on a cooling rack. They will be soft when freshly cooked but will crisp up as they cool to room temperature.
  7. Serve: Once cooled slightly, serve the waffles warm with your favorite toppings such as fruit, nut butter, or syrup.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for natural sweetness and better flavor.
  • Do not overblend eggs to avoid a dense texture.
  • Make sure the waffle maker is fully preheated before cooking for best texture.
  • Waffles crisp up as they cool; serve promptly for the best experience.
  • Oat flour can be substituted with gluten-free flour blend for celiac requirements.
  • Store leftover waffles in an airtight container and reheat in a toaster for crispiness.
