Ingredients
Base
- 1/2 cup creamy almond butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
Coating
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling on top
Instructions
- Prepare the tray: Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper and set aside to catch the finished balls after dipping.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine creamy almond butter, honey, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add dry ingredients: Incorporate the almond flour, chocolate protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, and sea salt into the wet mixture. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Form balls and chill: Roll the mixture into small balls about 1 to 2 tablespoons each. Place the balls on the prepared parchment-lined tray. Chill by placing in the freezer for 15 minutes or the refrigerator for 30 minutes to help them set.
- Melt chocolate coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Dip balls in chocolate: Using a fork or spoon, dip each brownie ball into the melted chocolate, coating it fully. Let the excess chocolate drip off before placing the ball back onto the tray.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt: Immediately sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each chocolate-coated ball to enhance flavor.
- Set chocolate and store: Refrigerate the balls for at least 1 hour to allow the chocolate to set completely. Once set, store them in an airtight container layered with parchment or wax paper in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup or agave nectar.
- Use dairy-free chocolate chips to keep the recipe dairy-free.
- Adjust the size of the balls to your preference, but keep in mind that larger balls will require more chilling time.
- Make sure to fully set the chocolate coating before storing to avoid melting or smudging.
- You can add a handful of chopped nuts or dried fruit to the mixture for added texture and flavor.
