Description

Chocolate Caramel Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars combine the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors with a crunchy pretzel base, creamy peanut butter, gooey caramel, and smooth chocolate topping. These easy no-bake bars are a must-try dessert or snack for any occasion, satisfying both your sweet tooth and your craving for a savory bite.

Ingredients

3 cups pretzels, crushed

1 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup unsalted butter

1 bag (11 oz) caramels

1 tablespoon heavy cream

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pretzel Base:

    • In a large bowl, combine the crushed pretzels and powdered sugar. Melt 1 cup of butter and pour it over the pretzel mixture. Stir to combine, making sure the mixture is evenly coated. Press this mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch pan to form the base layer.

  2. Peanut Butter Layer:

    • In a separate bowl, melt the peanut butter and ½ cup of butter together until smooth. Pour this mixture over the pretzel base and spread it out evenly. Refrigerate the pan for about 30 minutes to set the layer.

  3. Caramel Layer:

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the caramels with heavy cream until smooth. Pour this caramel mixture over the chilled peanut butter layer. Let the pan sit in the fridge for another 30 minutes to set the caramel.

  4. Chocolate Layer:

    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer, spreading it out evenly.

  5. Chill and Set:

    • Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours or until the chocolate and caramel layers are firm. Once set, cut into squares or bars and serve.

Notes

  1. Nutty Twist: Add chopped peanuts or your favorite nuts to the peanut butter layer for extra crunch.
  2. Dark Chocolate: Swap semisweet chocolate for dark chocolate for a richer flavor.
  3. Salted Caramel: Sprinkle sea salt on the caramel layer before adding the chocolate for a salted version.
  4. For a smoother texture, use creamy peanut butter and ensure the caramel is completely melted with the heavy cream.
