Description

This homemade Chocolate Granola is an easy, healthy snack packed with oats, nuts, seeds, and rich cocoa powder, finished with melty chocolate chips. Perfect for breakfast or a nutritious treat, it’s crunchy, chocolatey, and naturally sweetened with maple syrup.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/3 cup pecans
  • 1/3 cup cashews
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 Tbsp flax seeds
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Finishing Ingredient

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 340°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the oats, pecans, cashews, almonds, coconut flakes, chia seeds, flax seeds, salt, and cocoa powder. Stir well to evenly distribute all ingredients.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the melted coconut oil and maple syrup until well blended.
  4. Coat the Oat Mixture: Pour the coconut oil and maple syrup mixture over the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until every bit of the oat mixture is fully coated with the wet syrup mixture.
  5. Bake the Granola: Transfer the coated granola mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading it evenly into a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 17 minutes or until the granola is fragrant and turns golden brown.
  6. Cool & Add Chocolate: Remove the granola from the oven and allow it to cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break the granola into chunks and gently fold in the chocolate chips so they remain whole and melty.

Notes

  • Be sure to cool the granola completely before adding the chocolate chips to prevent them from melting entirely.
  • The mix of nuts and seeds can be customized to your preference; feel free to substitute walnuts or sunflower seeds.
  • Store the granola in an airtight container for up to two weeks for optimal freshness.
  • For a vegan version, ensure your chocolate chips are dairy-free.
