Description

This Cinnamon Toast Crunch Ice Cream combines the nostalgic flavor of the beloved cereal with creamy homemade ice cream, creating a rich and sweet dessert perfect for cereal lovers. By infusing milk with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and mixing in a homemade brown sugar-coated cereal crunch, this recipe offers a delightful balance of creamy texture and sweet, cinnamon-sugar-coated crunch.

Ingredients

Cereal Infused Milk

  • 3 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (divided)
  • 1½ cups whole milk

Ice Cream Base

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ cups half & half
  • 1½ Tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whipping cream

Sugared Cereal Topping

  • 1 cup remaining Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • extra Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Infuse Milk: Put 2 cups of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal into 1½ cups of whole milk and allow it to sit for 30 to 45 minutes, letting the milk absorb the cinnamon and sugar flavors from the cereal.
  2. Strain Milk: Strain the milk from the soaked cereal, discarding the soggy cereal pieces to keep only the flavored milk for the ice cream base.
  3. Prepare Ice Cream Base: Combine the cereal-infused milk, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, salt, half & half, vanilla extract, and whipping cream in a bowl. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  4. Churn Ice Cream: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and process according to the manufacturer’s directions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Make Sugared Cereal: While the ice cream churns, mix the remaining 1 cup of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal with ¼ cup brown sugar. Stir the mixture over medium heat in a frying pan until the sugar melts and coats the cereal evenly, then spread on a plate to cool.
  6. Cool and Break Sugared Cereal: Allow the sugared cereal to cool completely on the plate. Once cooled, break it into small pieces for mixing into the ice cream.
  7. Incorporate Sugared Cereal: When the ice cream is done churning, gently fold the cooled, sugared cereal pieces into the ice cream. Transfer the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze until firm to develop a scoopable texture.
  8. Serve and Garnish: Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones. Garnish with extra Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal pieces if desired for added crunch and visual appeal.

Notes

  • Using good quality vanilla extract enhances the ice cream’s flavor significantly.
  • Allow ample time for the cereal-infused milk to soak to extract maximum flavor.
  • Sugared cereal should be completely cooled before adding to prevent melting or softening the ice cream.
  • For best texture, consume the ice cream within a week of preparation.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can stir the mixture every 30 minutes as it freezes to create a similar texture, but results may vary.
