Description
This homemade walnut butter recipe is a creamy and nutritious spread made from raw, unsalted walnuts blended to perfection. It can be enjoyed on toast, in smoothies, or as a dip, with optional honey for natural sweetness.
Ingredients
Walnut Butter Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped raw unsalted walnuts
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- Honey (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Add walnuts and salt to food processor: Place 2 cups of chopped raw, unsalted walnuts and ¼ teaspoon of salt into the bowl of a food processor.
- Begin processing: Pulse the ingredients initially to start breaking down the walnuts.
- Process until smooth: Continue blending the walnuts for 8 to 10 minutes, pausing occasionally to scrape down the sides if needed, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. If desired, add honey to taste during the final stages of processing to sweeten the butter.
- Store and use: Transfer the walnut butter to a clean jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator. Use as a spread or in recipes as desired.
Notes
- Use raw, unsalted walnuts for best flavor and texture.
- Processing times may vary depending on the food processor power; be patient as the walnuts release oils and become creamy.
- Optional honey adds natural sweetness but can be omitted for a pure nut butter flavor.
- Store walnut butter refrigerated and consume within 2 weeks for freshness.
