Ingredients
Filling Ingredients
- 150 g Kataifi (dried and chopped)
- 290 g Pistachio Cream (see notes)
- 1 tbsp Tahini
- 52 g Unsalted Butter
- ½ tsp Salt
Chocolate and Fruit
- 340 g Chocolate (dark or milk)
- 680 g Strawberries
Instructions
- Make the Dubai Chocolate Filling: Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the kataifi and cook it while stirring occasionally, until it turns a lovely golden toasted color, which should take about 10 minutes.
- Prepare the Pistachio Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the pistachio cream, tahini, and salt, stirring well until fully mixed.
- Combine Kataifi and Cream: Add the toasted kataifi to the pistachio mixture and stir thoroughly to evenly distribute the components. Cover this filling and set it aside until ready to assemble.
- Prepare Strawberries: Wash and completely dry the strawberries. Slice them into halves or quarters depending on size and preference.
- Melt the Chocolate: Melt the chocolate in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each burst, until the chocolate is smooth and completely melted.
- Assemble the Dessert: In serving glasses, place a layer of sliced strawberries at the bottom.
- Add Chocolate: Drizzle a layer of melted chocolate over the strawberries.
- Layer Pistachio Filling: Spoon a portion of the pistachio-kataifi filling over the chocolate layer.
- Repeat Layers: Continue layering with strawberries, chocolate, and pistachio filling until the serving glass is filled, ensuring the final top layer is some fresh strawberries drizzled with chocolate.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the assembled glasses right away, as the chocolate will harden and set if left to sit for long.
Notes
- Pistachio cream is a smooth, sweet paste made from ground pistachios, often available at specialty stores or can be homemade by blending pistachios with a little oil and sugar.
- Make sure strawberries are fully dry before slicing to avoid excess moisture diluting the dessert layers.
- If preferred, use dark or milk chocolate depending on your taste preference for sweetness and intensity.
- This dessert is best enjoyed freshly assembled to maintain the texture of the kataifi and prevent chocolate from hardening.
