Ingredients

1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or sirloin for a leaner option)

1 large onion, thinly sliced

1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)

4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls

2 cups provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon butter (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell pepper (if using) and sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt and pepper, then add it to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.

  • Return the sautéed onions and peppers to the skillet with the beef. Add provolone cheese slices over the beef mixture and allow it to melt. Alternatively, stir in Cheez Whiz for a creamier texture.

  • Toast the hoagie rolls by spreading butter inside and placing them on a griddle or in a toaster oven until golden and crispy.

  • Spoon the beef mixture into the toasted rolls. Serve and enjoy immediately!
