Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour in the milk and stir until fully incorporated. If you’re adding chocolate chips, fold them into the batter now.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Add nuts: Add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter for a crunchy twist.
- Swirl in peanut butter: For a rich, savory flavor, swirl in some peanut butter before baking.
- Chocolate ganache topping: Once the bread has cooled, drizzle it with a simple chocolate ganache for an extra indulgent treat.
- Use dark chocolate chips: For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate chips or chunks instead of milk chocolate.
- Storage: Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
- Reheating: To reheat, wrap slices in foil and place in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until warmed through. You can also microwave individual slices for about 20-30 seconds.
