Description

Hershey’s Cream Cheese Brownies are a decadent dessert that combines rich, fudgy chocolate brownies with creamy, tangy cream cheese swirls for a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess.

Ingredients

1 box of Hershey’s Cocoa (or 1/2 cup Hershey’s Cocoa Powder)

1/2 cup butter, melted

2 eggs

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup sugar (for the cream cheese layer)

1 egg (for the cream cheese layer)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the cream cheese layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).
  8. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once fully cooled, cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  1. For a bit of crunch, consider adding chocolate chips, nuts, or even swirls of peanut butter to the brownie batter.
  2. For a gluten-free option, swap the all-purpose flour for a gluten-free flour blend.
  3. For extra chocolatey goodness, add a few tablespoons of melted chocolate to the brownie batter.
  4. To store, keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
  5. If using reduced-fat cream cheese, the texture and flavor may vary slightly.
