Description
Hershey’s Cream Cheese Brownies are a decadent dessert that combines rich, fudgy chocolate brownies with creamy, tangy cream cheese swirls for a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess.
Ingredients
1 box of Hershey’s Cocoa (or 1/2 cup Hershey’s Cocoa Powder)
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar (for the cream cheese layer)
1 egg (for the cream cheese layer)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the cream cheese layer)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once fully cooled, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a bit of crunch, consider adding chocolate chips, nuts, or even swirls of peanut butter to the brownie batter.
- For a gluten-free option, swap the all-purpose flour for a gluten-free flour blend.
- For extra chocolatey goodness, add a few tablespoons of melted chocolate to the brownie batter.
- To store, keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
- If using reduced-fat cream cheese, the texture and flavor may vary slightly.
