Description
These Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs are a delicious combination of savory and sweet flavors. Made with lean turkey and coated in a rich honey garlic sauce, they are perfect as a main dish, appetizer, or snack.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Using your hands, form the turkey mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side, until they’re browned.
- Once the meatballs are browned, transfer them to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they are fully cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- When the meatballs are done, toss them in the honey garlic sauce, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or oat flour.
- To increase the spiciness, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
- Substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean beef if preferred.
- For a healthier option, bake the meatballs instead of frying them.
