Description

These Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs are a delicious combination of savory and sweet flavors. Made with lean turkey and coated in a rich honey garlic sauce, they are perfect as a main dish, appetizer, or snack.

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

1/4 cup honey

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Using your hands, form the turkey mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side, until they’re browned.
  5. Once the meatballs are browned, transfer them to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they are fully cooked through.
  6. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. When the meatballs are done, toss them in the honey garlic sauce, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  8. Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  1. For a gluten-free version, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or oat flour.
  2. To increase the spiciness, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
  3. Substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean beef if preferred.
  4. For a healthier option, bake the meatballs instead of frying them.
