Description

Delightful and easy-to-make leftover cranberry sauce muffins using crescent roll dough. These soft, flaky muffins combine the sweetness and tang of cranberry sauce wrapped in buttery crescent dough, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or a festive treat during the holidays.

Ingredients

Crescent Dough

  • 2 tubes crescent rolls

Filling

  • ¼ cup leftover cranberry sauce (adjust to taste)

Other

  • 2-3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for rolling)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the muffins.
  2. Prepare Dough: Open both tubes of crescent rolls and carefully roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to remove the perforations and create a smooth sheet.
  3. Add Filling: Spread the leftover cranberry sauce evenly over the first layer of rolled-out dough, distributing it to your taste preference.
  4. Top Layer: Place the second layer of crescent roll dough on top of the cranberry-covered dough, aligning it carefully.
  5. Roll Up: Starting from one end, firmly roll the layered dough into a log shape. Make five slices across the log to create six equal sections called cruffins.
  6. Prepare Muffin Tin: Spray a muffin tin with cooking spray or grease it well, then place each sliced cruffin into its own muffin cup.
  7. Bake: Bake the cruffins in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are fully cooked.
  8. Cool and Finish: Remove the cruffins from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired for a sweet finish.
  9. Serve and Enjoy: Enjoy these warm, flaky cranberry sauce muffins as a delightful snack or breakfast treat.

Notes

  • Use slightly less cranberry sauce if you prefer less sweetness or if the sauce is very liquidy to avoid soggy dough.
  • All-purpose flour helps prevent the dough from sticking while rolling and shaping.
  • Powdered sugar is optional but adds a nice decorative touch and extra sweetness.
  • If you don’t have leftover cranberry sauce, you can substitute with fresh berry jam or preserves.
  • These muffins taste best fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes to restore flakiness.
