Description

Delight in these rich and fudgy M&M Brownies, featuring a perfect balance of chocolate and colorful candy for a fun, indulgent treat. This easy-to-make dessert combines a smooth cocoa batter with bursts of candy-coated chocolate, baked to perfection for a chewy and satisfying brownie experience.

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

Topping

  • 1 cup M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the brownies evenly.
  2. Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and allow for easy removal of the brownies after baking.
  3. Melt Butter: In a large mixing bowl, melt the unsalted butter completely, either using a microwave or stovetop, creating a smooth base for your batter.
  4. Mix Cocoa and Vanilla: Add the cocoa powder and vanilla extract to the melted butter, whisking thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  5. Add Sugar and Eggs: Incorporate the packed brown sugar and eggs into the butter mixture. Use a whisk or an electric mixer on medium speed to combine everything until the batter is smooth and slightly glossy.
  6. Add Dry Ingredients: Sift in the all-purpose flour and salt, then beat the mixture gently until smooth, ensuring no flour pockets remain.
  7. Transfer Batter: Pour the brownie batter into your prepared 8×8-inch pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
  8. Add M&M’s: Sprinkle the 1 cup of M&M’s evenly over the top of the batter, pressing them slightly into the mixture so they adhere but do not sink.
  9. Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Start checking at 40 minutes by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs, indicating the brownies are done.
  10. Cool and Serve: Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into 9 squares and serve.

Notes

  • For fudgier brownies, slightly underbake by removing them at 40 minutes.
  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing and texture.
  • You can substitute M&M’s with other chocolate candies or chocolate chips according to preference.
  • Ensure the butter is not too hot when mixing cocoa powder to avoid a grainy texture.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
