Ingredients
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar (tightly packed)
- 2 eggs
- 3 ½ cups gluten free flour (or all purpose flour)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Dough
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- ⅔ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and no clumps of butter remain.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Incorporate the eggs and vanilla extract into the sugar-butter mixture. Stir until the ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Add the gluten free flour, baking soda, and sea salt to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick dough forms.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the dark chocolate chips into the cookie dough for even distribution.
- Prepare Chocolate Dough: Transfer half of the cookie dough to a separate bowl. Add the cocoa powder and stir thoroughly until a rich, thick chocolate dough is formed.
- Form Marble Cookies: Take a spoonful of the vanilla dough and a spoonful of the chocolate dough, then roll them together with your hands into a ball, creating a marbled effect. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking pan. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are just set in the middle but still soft.
- Cool Cookies: Remove from oven and let the cookies cool on the baking pan for 5 minutes. Then, carefully transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, ensure butter is softened to room temperature before starting.
- You can substitute gluten free flour with all-purpose flour if gluten is not an issue.
- Do not overbake the cookies to maintain a soft and chewy texture.
- Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent cookies from sticking and to promote even baking.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie before baking.
