Description

Delicious and easy Nutella waffles made using frozen puff pastry, perfect for a quick breakfast or dessert. These waffles are flaky, golden, and filled with creamy Nutella, offering a delightful combination of textures and flavors with minimal preparation and cook time.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 box frozen puff pastry (17.3 ounces, 2 sheets per box)
  • ¼ cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pastry: Thaw out the puff pastry according to package instructions. Spread one sheet of pastry on a lightly floured surface or on top of a large piece of wax paper. Use a pizza cutter or pastry wheel to cut the pastry into squares or shapes to fit your waffle iron. For a square waffle iron, cut four 4 by 4 inch squares. For a round waffle iron, measure the inside diameter and cut circles using a paper template, then divide the circles into fourths for easier handling. Repeat for the second sheet of pastry.
  2. Lay Bottom Layer: Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Carefully place the bottom layer of pastry squares or shapes on the hot grates, being cautious of the heat.
  3. Add Nutella: Place 1 tablespoon of Nutella on top of each pastry square or shape. Allow it to heat for about 30 seconds to soften the Nutella.
  4. Spread Nutella: Use the back of a spoon to spread the softened Nutella evenly, leaving about a ½ inch border from the edges of the pastry squares.
  5. Cook Waffles: Top the Nutella layer with the remaining pastry squares or shapes. Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions for light waffles. Avoid overcooking. The waffles are done when the pastry is lightly browned, flaky, and no longer soft. Cooking time varies depending on your waffle iron.

Notes

  • Ensure puff pastry is properly thawed for easier cutting and handling.
  • Do not overfill with Nutella to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • Cooking times vary by waffle iron; keep an eye to avoid burning.
  • These waffles are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
  • You can dust the waffles with powdered sugar or serve with fresh fruit for added flavor.
