Description

Old-Fashioned Goulash is a classic, hearty one-pot meal made with ground beef, elbow macaroni, and a savory tomato sauce. This family-friendly dish is quick, budget-friendly, and perfect for weeknight dinners or large gatherings. Packed with flavor and simple ingredients, it’s a satisfying comfort food everyone will love.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes

1 can (6 oz) tomato paste

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

2 cups elbow macaroni

1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is soft and translucent.

  • Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.

  • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, allowing flavors to combine.

  • Cook elbow macaroni according to package instructions in a separate pot. Drain and set aside.

  • Stir in the cooked macaroni into the sauce mixture. Let it cook for another 5 minutes, allowing pasta to absorb the sauce.

  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Vegetarian Option: Use plant-based crumbles or beans instead of ground beef.
  2. Spicy Twist: Add red pepper flakes or jalapeños for a spicy version.
  3. Cheesy Goulash: Add shredded cheese like cheddar or mozzarella just before serving.
