Description

These Paleo Hot Cocoa Bombs are a fun and delicious way to enjoy a cozy beverage, made with dairy-free dark chocolate, coconut sugar, and customizable mix-ins. Perfect for a comforting treat that melts beautifully in your favorite warm milk.

Ingredients

Chocolate Shell

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Hot Cocoa Powder Mix

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar

Mix-Ins

  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Marshmallows
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe dish, melt dark chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30 second increments, stirring between each until smooth and fully melted.
  2. Fill Molds: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate into each silicone mold cavity. Use the spoon to spread the chocolate around, making sure the entire mold is coated evenly.
  3. Chill Chocolate Shells: Place the filled molds in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to harden the chocolate shells completely.
  4. Demold Shells: Carefully remove the hardened chocolate shells from the silicone molds to avoid breakage.
  5. Prepare Cocoa Mix: In a bowl, combine the cocoa powder and coconut sugar, mixing thoroughly. Set aside.
  6. Warm Skillet: Heat a large nonstick skillet over very low heat to gently warm it.
  7. Seal Shell Edges: Press each chocolate shell half gently onto the warm skillet just enough for the edges to melt slightly. This will help them stick together when assembled.
  8. Add Mix-Ins: Fill each chocolate half with the hot cocoa powder mixture along with desired mix-ins such as mini chocolate chips, marshmallows, and sprinkles.
  9. Assemble Bombs: Press two shell halves together firmly to seal each hot cocoa bomb. Repeat for all bombs.
  10. Optional Chocolate Drizzle: If desired, melt extra chocolate and drizzle it over the top of the assembled bombs for decoration.
  11. Chill Bombs: Place the finished hot cocoa bombs on a plate and refrigerate for 10 minutes to ensure they harden and hold shape.
  12. Serve: Remove bombs from the fridge. Place each bomb into a mug. Heat 1 cup of almond milk (or your preferred milk) and pour it over the bomb. The heat will cause the bomb to melt and release the cocoa and mix-ins.
  13. Enjoy: Stir the hot cocoa thoroughly with a spoon and enjoy your delicious, comforting drink!

Notes

  • Use a silicone mold designed for chocolate spheres to get perfectly shaped shells.
  • Be gentle when removing the chocolate halves to avoid cracking or breaking.
  • Customize mix-ins based on your preferences; mini chocolate chips and marshmallows add extra texture and flavor.
  • If dairy-free is desired, ensure marshmallows are also vegan-friendly.
  • Use almond or other plant-based milk to keep it paleo and dairy-free.
  • Store assembled bombs in the refrigerator until ready to use for best results.
