Ingredients
Peach Filling
- 7 cups peeled sliced peaches
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Crumble Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the crumble.
- Prepare Peach Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the peeled sliced peaches with ¼ cup granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Toss everything together until the peaches are evenly coated to help thicken the filling as it bakes.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the peach mixture into a 7×11-inch baking dish or a similarly sized ovenproof dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Make the Crumble Topping: In a medium bowl, stir together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ cup packed brown sugar, ¼ cup granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon salt until well combined.
- Add Butter: Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture forms a crumbly dough.
- Assemble Crumble: Drop pieces of the crumble dough evenly over the top of the peach filling to cover it partially, allowing some of the fruit to peek through.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the peaches are bubbly and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
Notes
- Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavor, or substitute with frozen peaches (thawed and drained) if out of season.
- For a nuttier topping, try adding chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts to the crumble mixture.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgence.
- The lemon juice not only adds flavor but also helps prevent the peaches from browning.
- Ensure to use a baking dish around 7×11 inches to get the right depth for the crumble.
