Description

Ritz Bits Puppy Chow is a delightful, crunchy snack featuring Peanut Butter Ritz Bits coated in a rich mixture of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and butter, then dusted generously with powdered sugar. This easy-to-make treat combines sweet and salty flavors in every bite, perfect for sharing at parties or enjoying as a fun snack.

Ingredients

Snacks

  • 8.8 ounce box Peanut Butter Ritz Bits

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (can use salted)

Coating Powder

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (more, if needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crackers: Open the box of Peanut Butter Ritz Bits and pour them into a large mixing bowl, making sure they’re ready to be coated.
  2. Melt the chocolate mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Stir constantly to melt and blend all ingredients smoothly without scorching, ensuring the mixture is ready to coat the crackers.
  3. Combine the mixture with crackers: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Ritz Bits. Quickly use a spatula to gently and evenly toss the crackers so each piece is coated with the chocolate mixture.
  4. Add powdered sugar: Sprinkle the powdered sugar over the coated crackers. Stir thoroughly until every Ritz Bit is fully covered. Add more powdered sugar if necessary to achieve even coating and a powdery finish.
  5. Cool the Puppy Chow: Spread the coated Ritz Bits onto a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper to prevent sticking. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature for about 10 minutes to let the coating set.
  6. Store or serve: Once cooled, transfer the Puppy Chow to an airtight container for storage or serve immediately for a deliciously crunchy, sweet snack.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overcook the chocolate mixture as it can seize and become clumpy, affecting coating quality.
  • If the coating is not sticky enough, add a little more powdered sugar to ensure full coverage.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness and crunch.
  • This snack is best enjoyed within a few days for optimal texture.
