Ingredients
RumChata French Toast:
- ½ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 – 4 slices of bread (preferably thick-cut)
- 4 tablespoons RumChata
- 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
RumChata Whipped Cream:
- ¾ cup cold whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons RumChata
To Serve:
- Fresh berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries)
- Maple syrup
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a large, flat bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and ground cinnamon thoroughly until well combined.
- Soak the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Place the coated slices on a separate plate and set aside.
- Drizzle RumChata: Evenly pour about 1 tablespoon of RumChata over one side of each soaked bread slice. Allow the bread to rest for a few minutes so it can absorb the flavors.
- Cook the French toast: Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the soaked bread slices and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Make RumChata whipped cream: While the toast is cooking, whip the cold whipping cream and 3 tablespoons RumChata in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Serve: Plate the French toast immediately, topping each slice with a generous dollop of RumChata whipped cream. Garnish with fresh berries, drizzle with maple syrup, and sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Use thick-cut bread like brioche or challah for best texture and flavor.
- Ensure the whipping cream is well chilled before whipping for optimal volume.
- Adjust cinnamon quantity to taste for more or less spice.
- This recipe contains alcohol; keep in mind that cooking may reduce but not fully eliminate alcohol content.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute RumChata with a cinnamon cream or vanilla extract mixture.
