Ingredients
1 cup warm milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
Extra butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the melted butter and eggs, followed by the yeast mixture. Stir everything together to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Allow it to rise for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Once risen, bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with extra melted butter for a rich, glossy finish.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For garlic butter rolls, brush with a mixture of melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley before baking.
- For cheese-stuffed rolls, place a small cube of cheese inside each roll before shaping and baking.
- To make herb rolls, add fresh or dried herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough.
