Description
Southern Fried Salmon Patties are a comforting and flavorful dish that brings the best of Southern cuisine to your table. With a crispy golden exterior and a tender, flaky interior, these salmon patties are packed with savory goodness.
Ingredients
1 can (14.75 oz) pink salmon, drained and flaked
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (optional)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned salmon, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper (if using), mayonnaise, beaten egg, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Mix everything together until the ingredients are well combined. The mixture should be moist but firm enough to form into patties.
- Divide the mixture into 4 to 6 equal portions, and shape them into round or oval patties.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the salmon patties hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Spicy Salmon Patties: Add a bit of heat by incorporating diced jalapeños or a teaspoon of hot sauce to the mixture.
- Gluten-Free Option: Substitute the breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or crushed rice crackers for a gluten-free version of this dish.
- Herb-Infused: For a fresh twist, add finely chopped parsley or dill to the salmon mixture.
- Baked Version: Instead of frying, place the patties on a greased baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
