Ingredients
4 large bread bowls
1 lb spaghetti
3 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Cut the tops off the bread bowls and hollow out the centers, leaving about an inch of bread along the sides.
-
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the inside and outside of the bread bowls.
-
Place the bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
-
Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
-
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
-
Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
-
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce.
-
Stir in the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in fresh basil.
-
Spoon the cheesy spaghetti mixture into the prepared bread bowls.
-
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Variations: Add cooked ground beef, sausage, or grilled chicken for a meatier version. For a vegetarian twist, load the spaghetti with vegetables like mushrooms, spinach, or zucchini.
- Storage/Reheating: Store leftover spaghetti in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat on the stovetop with a bit of cream or pasta water. The bread bowls are best eaten fresh.
