Description

A rich and indulgent Brownie Trifle layered with fudgy peanut butter chip brownies, creamy peanut butter mousse, miniature peanut butter cups, and whipped topping—perfect for peanut butter and chocolate lovers. This easy no-bake trifle dessert comes together in under an hour, serving a crowd with 20 cups of luscious layers chilled to perfection.

Ingredients

Brownie Layer

  • 1 fudge brownie mix (13×9-inch pan size)
  • 1 package (10 ounces) peanut butter chips

Peanut Butter Mousse

  • 4 cups cold 2% milk
  • 2 packages (5.1 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cartons (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Additional Ingredients

  • 2 packages (13 ounces each) miniature peanut butter cups
  • cartons (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed (for topping and folding)

Instructions

  1. Mix and bake the brownies: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare the brownie batter according to the package directions and stir in all the peanut butter chips. Pour the batter into a greased 13×9-inch baking pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to keep brownies moist. Cool completely on a wire rack, then cut into 3/4-inch pieces.
  2. Make the peanut butter mousse: Cut the miniature peanut butter cups in half. Set aside 1/3 cup of these halves for garnish. In a large bowl, whisk the cold milk and instant vanilla pudding mixes for 2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Stir in the creamy peanut butter and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in 1½ cartons of thawed whipped topping to create a light and fluffy mousse.
  3. Assemble the trifle: In a 5-quart glass bowl, layer 1/3 of the brownie pieces followed by 1/3 of the remaining peanut butter cup halves. Spoon 1/3 of the peanut butter mousse over this layer. Repeat these layers two more times. Finish by covering the top with the remaining whipped topping. Garnish the top with the reserved peanut butter cup halves. Refrigerate the trifle until thoroughly chilled before serving.

Notes

  • Do not overbake the brownies; they should still be moist inside.
  • You can prepare the mousse ahead and refrigerate before assembling.
  • Use a glass bowl to showcase the beautiful layers of the trifle.
  • Leftovers keep well covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a richer taste, use whole milk instead of 2% milk.
