Description
This Campfire Hot Chocolate with Peanut Butter is a cozy and indulgent beverage perfect for enjoying by the fire. Combining rich hot chocolate mix with creamy peanut butter whiskey and optional toasted marshmallows, it offers a delicious twist on the classic drink, ideal for camping or chilly nights outdoors.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 8 ounces milk (or water)
- 2 tablespoons hot chocolate mix (or 1 packet)
- 1 ounce peanut butter whiskey (plus more if desired; recommended: Screwball)
- 2 large marshmallows (optional)
Instructions
- Warm the Milk: Place the milk in a campfire-safe pot, preferably a titanium pot, over a campfire grate or a camp stove. Heat gently until the milk begins to steam, taking care not to let it boil to avoid scalding the pot’s bottom.
- Mix Hot Chocolate and Whiskey: Remove the pot from heat as soon as the milk steams. Stir in the hot chocolate mix thoroughly until dissolved. Then, add the peanut butter whiskey and mix well.
- Prepare Marshmallows and Serve: Optionally, toast two large marshmallows over the campfire until golden, then add them to the hot chocolate. Alternatively, add the marshmallows un-toasted or omit them altogether. Pour the hot chocolate into a mug and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use a pot without plastic handles over open flames to avoid melting.
- You can substitute water for milk, but milk provides a richer, creamier texture.
- Adjust the amount of peanut butter whiskey to your taste preference.
- Toasting marshmallows adds a smoky flavor but can be skipped if preferred.
