Description
These Crescent Roll Cinnamon Rolls are a quick and easy twist on classic cinnamon rolls, made with refrigerated crescent dough and topped with a sweet cinnamon butter filling and a simple vanilla glaze. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or snack, they bake up golden and fluffy in just 35 minutes.
Ingredients
Crescent Rolls
- 8 ounce can Refrigerated crescent dough (such as Pillsbury 8 ounce, 8 count)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon (adjust to taste)
Icing
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Make the cinnamon butter paste: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well until the paste is smooth and creamy, ensuring the sugar and cinnamon are evenly distributed.
- Prepare the crescent dough: Open the tube of refrigerated crescent rolls and unroll the dough onto a baking sheet. Separate the dough into the 8 individual wedges along the perforations.
- Spread the cinnamon butter: Evenly spread the cinnamon butter paste over each of the crescent dough wedges, covering the surface thoroughly to ensure a flavorful roll.
- Roll the dough: Starting from the wide end of each wedge, roll the dough tightly into a crescent shape. Place the rolled crescents spaced out on the baking pan to allow room for expansion.
- Optional chilling: For best results, chill the rolled dough in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. This helps maintain their shape during baking.
- Bake the rolls: Preheat the oven and bake the cinnamon rolls for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. Once baked, let them sit on the baking pan for about 15 minutes to slightly cool and set.
- Prepare the icing: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and of drizzling consistency. Add more milk if the icing is too thick.
- Drizzle the icing: Transfer the rolls to a cooling rack placed over parchment or wax paper to catch drips. Using a spoon, drizzle the icing over the warm rolls evenly.
- Serve and store: These rolls are best enjoyed the day they are made. If you have leftovers, store them in a sealed container at room temperature for up to one day to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Chilling the dough before baking is optional but recommended to help the rolls keep their shape.
- You can adjust the cinnamon amount in the butter paste to your taste preference.
- If the icing is too thick, add milk a few drops at a time until easy to drizzle.
- These rolls are best eaten fresh but can be lightly warmed before serving if stored overnight.
