Description

A simple and delightful dessert featuring fresh diced strawberries topped with homemade vanilla whipped cream. This recipe is quick to prepare, requiring only 15 minutes, and serves six people, making it perfect for a refreshing treat or an elegant finish to any meal.

Ingredients

Strawberries

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, diced

Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (confectioners sugar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prep: Place a metal mixing bowl and electric beaters in the freezer for one hour to chill thoroughly. Ensure the bowl is large enough to allow the cream to expand as it is whipped.
  2. Chill the Cream: When five minutes remain on the chilling time for the bowl and beaters, place the carton of heavy whipping cream in the freezer to chill as well.
  3. Add Ingredients: Pour 1 cup of the chilled heavy whipping cream into the chilled metal bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the cream.
  4. Whip: Using an electric hand mixer fitted with the chilled beaters, start beating the cream on medium speed for a few seconds. Then increase to medium-high or high speed, and continue to beat for about 2 minutes or until stiff peaks form.
  5. Keep Chilled: Once the whipped cream is ready, store it in the refrigerator while preparing the strawberries to keep it fresh and stable.
  6. Dice Strawberries: Dice the fresh strawberries into small pieces suitable for layering or serving.
  7. Serve: For a layered presentation, use a clear tall glass to create 2 to 4 alternating layers of diced strawberries and vanilla whipped cream. Alternatively, spoon the diced strawberries into a shallow bowl and top generously with whipped cream.
  8. Store: The whipped cream can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and can be used as needed.

Notes

  • Ensure everything is very cold before whipping for best results.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for optimal flavor and sweetness.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less powdered sugar according to taste.
  • If the whipped cream becomes overbeaten, it may turn into butter; stop whipping once stiff peaks form.
  • This dessert can be served immediately or kept chilled for a few hours before serving.
